My Story

I’m getting ready and packed to embark on 157 miles across the Sahara, count down begins!
Very mixed emotions but mostly excited about the challenge. Claire and I cannot thank you all enough for your utter generosity and kindness, you will never know how much this has spurred us on.
I’m hugely sad not to be going with my dear friend Claire, who’s sadly had to pull out. Claire has done a huge amount of work fundraising. I’ll think of you making me laugh when we have both reached tipping point on our long runs......And ill hold the gaviscon torch for both of us!
See you all on the other side! Xxxx

Blob

Claire: The Marathon des Sables has always been on my bucket list but I had never quite taken the plunge to enter. Then when my mum, who had always been my absolute rock and best friend, was diagnosed with cancer and died this year, I decided that life is too short to hold back. When I realised that it was possible to enter through Hope for Children, I signed up. My amazing running partner in crime has so kindly volunteered to experience the pain with me! As a paediatrician I have seen some awful consequences of children living in poverty and know how important the funds that Hope for Children raise are to try and improve living conditions for children worldwide. In fact, the Government are actually matching every donation made before the end of 2017, so there is no better time to fundraise! Thanks in advance, Milly and Claire xx
